At least three Japanese telcos are putting the launch of Huawei’s flagship smartphone P30 Lite on hold, following US Commerce Department’s decision to blacklist the Chinese telecoms giant and its affiliates.
Ymobile, a low-cost mobile brand owned by SoftBank, announced today that they would delay the Huawei premium phone’s launch which was originally scheduled to take place on Friday. Two other Japanese telcos, KDDI and NTT Docomo, also decided to postpone sales of Huawei’s flagship phones, according to Reuters.
Huawei, the world’s second-largest smartphone maker, is projected to lose up to 24% of its global smartphone shipment share this year as a result of the US ban, according to a recent report by Strategy Analytics.
Earlier this week, Google said it would not be able to continue to provide some of its Android services on new Huawei devices although existing Huawei users would not be affected.
