Chinese tech giant Huawei launched a laptop and a tablet for the US market on Sunday. The company unveiled its new Windows-based laptop, the MateBook 13, in Las Vegas ahead of the annual CES. Huawei’s new laptop will be for sale on Amazon and Newegg from Jan 29th, starting at US$900. Huawei’s tablet, the 10.1-inch MediaPad M5 Lite, will also be available to the public on these two sites in late January, starting at US$299.
The MateBook 13 directly challenges Apple’s MacBook Air, just as Huawei’s flagship laptop, the MateBook X Pro, is a direct competitor to other brands’ flagship models, including Apple’s MacBook Pro and Dell’s XPS 13. The company shipped over 200 million smartphones globally in 2018. Smartphones still make up the bulk of Huawei’s product lineup.
