Future job seekers with interests in video gaming may want to look at China’s fast-expanding e-sports sector.
A new report by China’s Ministry of Human Resource and Social Security points to a scarcity in the country’s e-sports workforce, including the number of professional video game players, per Chinese media Egsea.
The report predicts the Chinese market will demand 2 million e-sports players within five years, compared with roughly 100,000 professional gamers in the country currently.
China counts an estimated 75 million core e-sports fans, and the market is forecasted to reach RMB 13.8 billion (USD 2 billion) this year, according to Tencent estimates.
