World FinTech Festival Japan returns with spotlight on Southeast Asia

So Inc. will host the annual World FinTech Festival Japan (WFFJ) in Tokyo from November 11 to 12, 2021, as part of the Singapore FinTech Festival (SFF) 2021. SFF is the world’s largest fintech event organized by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). This year’s sixth edition features a unique hybrid format that combines a 24-hour online event platform with over ten global satellite events in selected fintech hubs around the world.

WFFJ will highlight the latest trends in fintech with content specific to Japan, featuring international thought leaders in finance, business, government, technology, and academia. The event will also provide attendees with exclusive networking access to industry thought leaders and sponsors of WFF in Tokyo.

The event will feature more than 65 prominent speakers, including leaders of the Japanese financial industry and representatives from the Bank of Japan and finance authorities. Other distinguished guests include Sopnendu Mohanty, chief fintech officer of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and Jouk Pleiter, founder and CEO of Backbase, who will speak about accelerating digital banking globally.

“So Inc. is excited to host the World FinTech Festival again for the second consecutive year in Tokyo, Japan. This year’s event will be packed with topics on updates in fintech such as digital banking, Web 3.0, NFTs, and embedded finance. We welcome you—pioneers, rising tech stars, thought leaders, and global investors—to discuss emerging opportunities in Japan, transformation, and growth and development of the financial landscape,” said Kiko Uehara, CEO of So Inc.

Tokyo’s status as an innovation hub is recognized in Southeast Asia as well. “As one of the world’s leading financial centers, Tokyo is rapidly emerging as a fintech hub in Asia—as it continues to innovate in areas such as blockchain and sustainable fintech. In the spirit of promoting financial innovation at the Singapore FinTech Festival, we are pleased to announce this strategic partnership with So Inc. to amplify knowledge sharing and drive cross-border collaboration between Japan’s fintech ecosystem and the global community at SFF,” Sopnendu Mohanty of the MAS said.
