Web Summit 2019, the world’s largest technology conference according to the Financial Times, has hosted a record attendance of 70,469 visitors from 163 countries, according to official data released by the organizer.
This year’s event, which was held in Lisbon, Portugal, has also outdone all its past conferences in terms of the gender ratio. Over 46.3% of participants were women, surpassing last year’s 44.5%, and also this year’s Collision conference in Toronto, with 45.7% female attendance.
Over 1,206 speakers shared their insights across the 22 stages at the event, and many were interviewed on stage and on the sidelines by some 2,526 journalists attending the conference.
More than 200 partners and 2,000 startups also exhibited at the event. The startups had the chance to connect with over 1,200 investors.
The most represented startup sectors were enterprise software solutions, fintech, and AI and machine learning.
As one of the world’s largest gatherings for entrepreneurs, investors, multinationals, and leaders, over 120,000 people from more than 170 countries have joined the Web Summit conferences in Lisbon, Collision in Toronto, and RISE in Hong Kong so far.
