China’s e-commerce company Pinduoduo entered a strategic cooperation with Galanz, one of China’s leading home appliance makers, and one of the world’s largest suppliers of microwave ovens, 36Kr reports.
Wu Yi, marketing director of Galanz’s life electric appliance department, said both parties will roll out customized products to meet different needs in different regions.
Galanz was founded in September 1978 in Foshan city, Guangdong province, in Southern China’s industrial heartland, the Pearl River Delta. It has a full home appliances lineup, which, next to microwaves, also includes refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners. Galanz claims on its website that its products have been sold in nearly 200 countries an regions.
Da Da, one of the co-founders of Pinduoduo, told media that both parties will innovate on the product-level in the next three to five years.
He added that Pinduoduo will give preferential resources to Galanz and will not pursue short-term benefits, but did not elaborate.
Pinduoduo is carrying out its “client-to-manufacturing initiative” by providing insights into user trends and preferences to help producers better manage their production plans, the company’s chairman Huang Zheng explained during its first-quarter earnings call.
