Grab joins premium ride market with new GrabCar Exec service, will also launch GrabPet XL

Grab announced today (May 6) that it will be expanding its transport offerings with the upcoming launch of two new on-demand premier ride options on May 25. The new ride options are GrabCar Exec, a fleet of luxurious vehicles that serve consumers who want to travel in style and comfort; and GrabPet XL, which caters to consumers with numerous pets.

GrabCar Exec offers a limousine-style service with a focus on service quality—an option for consumers looking for a special ride for events or special occasions. It’s worth noting that fellow ride-sharing player Ryde also recently launched a new premium ride service called RydeLuxe which targets the same demographic.

GrabCar Exec will be serviced by a fleet of four- and six-seater premium vehicles, which include the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes Benz E-Class, Mercedes-Benz V220, and Toyota Vellfire models. Riders can also take advantage of various amenities offered, including phone charging and booster seats for children. In addition, GrabCar Exec driver-partners will be required to attend professional training, and are also advised to dress professionally to elevate the overall experience for consumers.

GrabPet XL is basically an upgraded version of the existing GrabPet service. The service will utilize larger vehicle models, allowing for the transport of more passengers and pets. For instance, a GrabPet XL vehicle can transport three passengers and three small to medium-sized pets (up to 41 cm in length), or two large pets (41 cm in length or larger) in a single trip. In contrast, GrabPet can accommodate up to two passengers, two small to medium-sized pets, or one large pet. All household pets licensed by the Animal & Veterinary Service (except birds) are permitted to use the service.

All vehicles are outfitted with foldable pet seat covers and adjustable leashes to ensure the pets’ comfort and safety during their ride. In addition, Grab offers insurance coverage for traveling pets for the duration of the ride. “Our consumers rely heavily on the Grab platform for their mobility needs. They are extremely diverse, and it is important that our suite of services caters to their different needs, in areas such as quality, safety, convenience, and more. We have specifically created GrabPet XL and GrabCar Exec to address feedback and requests from our consumers and driver-partners,” said Andrew Chan, transport managing director of Grab Singapore.

Chan added that these new services will help create more earning opportunities for its driver-partners. Interested consumers will soon be able to book these services via the Grab app. Rides start from SGD 16 (USD 12) for GrabPet XL, and from SGD 15 (USD 11) for GrabCar Exec.
