Disney+ is hiring in Singapore, will the streaming service be launching soon?

Earlier this month, Disney Junior Asia announced on its Facebook page that its Disney channels have been removed from Singtel and StarHub platforms.

It was speculated that this split is probably due to the looming threat of Disney+ on the horizon, with the streaming network already releasing in Japan.

Rumors of Disney+ launching in Singapore became rife as the firm recently posted Singapore-based job listings on its careers page.

Since June 15, eight Singapore roles have been listed:

  • Graphics Designer
  • Director/Senior Manager of Brand Marketing & Partnerships
  • Senior Manager/Manager of Social Media
  • Senior Manager of Creative Communications
  • Senior Manager/Manager of PR & Communications
  • Creative Producer
  • Manager of Partner Engagement
  • Manager of Subscription Management

Could the fact that they are hiring in Singapore mean that this streaming service would be available on our shores soon? It’s very likely.

Disney+ is currently available in 12 countries, but it has shared its plans to go global soon.

The tentative global rollout timeline is as follows, though it is subject to change due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors:

  • Western Europe in the first half of 2020
  • Eastern Europe in the first half of 2021
  • Latin America in the first half of 2021
  • Asia and Pacific country launches throughout 2020 and 2021

If and when Disney+ launches in Singapore, subscribers can expect on-demand movies and series from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.
