Cloud-based 3D design platform Realibox closes Series A for interactive collaborations

Real-time 3D design platform Realibox has secured tens of millions of yuan in its Series A funding round from investors including Wondershare and the Shenzhen Investment Holdings, with Maban Capital serving as financial advisor on the deal. The funds will go towards developing the Guangzhou-based company’s suite of software tools by investing in product R&D and SaaS operations.

Founded in 2018, Realibox is China’s only startup with its own 3D cloud engine and cloud platform-as-a-service (PaaS), focusing on 3D collaborative design and data management. The company leverages the use of extended reality technology to provide a more immersive user experience to a diverse set of clients spanning the auto sector, consumer electronics, fashion, and industrial equipment. Notable customers include GAC Group, Dongfeng Motor, Haier, and Li & Fung, while Realibox’s number of users and annual sales have both grown more than 100% in the past year.

With greater cloud computing penetration in the wake of the pandemic, Realibox was able to seize the opportunity to facilitate the greater digitalization of China’s manufacturing sector, which although unparalleled in scale, still lags behind its American and European counterparts. To allow for customization among enterprise clients in various industries, Realibox’s software suite includes tools for construction, data management, and interactive collaboration. The firm also analyzes the data gathered on its platform to inform upstream and downstream business decisions.

Realibox’s use of cloud computing for its solutions significantly cuts the operating costs for customers, who do not need to invest in hardware like servers, data centers, and maintenance.

“This is the biggest difference between us and traditional industrial software providers. Traditional operators use longer contracts, tying their clients down for years, with very infrequent product iteration. But Realibox uses a flexible model and only charges for the time and number of users on the platform, while providing updates on a weekly basis. This model allows us to strengthen our interaction with customers and help them improve their work efficiency,” Zhao Junjie, founder and CEO of Realibox, told 36Kr.

Realibox currently boasts more than 10,000 users and over 100 million API calls per month. It owns 17 3D technology patents.
