CHINA BRIEF | Grocery delivery firm MissFresh closes new fundraising round

Beijing-based on-demand grocery delivery startup MissFresh has closed a new round of financing, bagging an undisclosed sum from investors including CICC Capital. Previously, the startup has been valued above USD 3 billion, 36Kr reported on Thursday.

MissFresh, which was set up in 2014, declined to comment on the deal when contacted by 36Kr. Before this round, the startup has collected nearly USD 900 million in eight rounds from investors including Tencent and Goldman Sachs, said 36Kr.

This new round came after the COVID-19 pandemic boosted online business. The company told South China Morning Post in April that users above 40 on its platforms jumped 237% from January 23 to February 23.

MissFresh main business is selling fresh produce and food via its app and WeChat mini program, and also providing delivery. The company has warehouses in more than 20 cities in China and its own delivery fleet.
