CHINA BRIEF | Didi sets up USD 10 million relief fund for coronavirus-stricken drivers outside China

China’s ride-hailing giant Didi Chuxing has dedicated USD 10 million for a relief fund for drivers and couriers in its international markets, the company announced in a Friday press release.

The fund will be used to provide financial relief to Didi’s drivers and food delivery couriers in Asia and Latin America diagnosed with the coronavirus. Infected drivers and couriers may request assistance through dedicated channels in each market, said the firm without disclosing any further details.

Didi has initiated similar relief measures in China shortly after the initial outbreak in Wuhan, Hubei province. It announced in February that any drivers who are hospitalized for the coronavirus will receive a daily allowance of RMB 300 (USD 42.9).
