CHINA BRIEF | ByteDance makes workplace collaboration tool Feishu free indefinitely

TikTok owner ByteDance has made its entire workplace collaboration platform Feishu (called Lark overseas) free for all enterprises and organizations in the domestic market, the company announced Monday.

Some of the services and features included in the tool are online meetings, file sharing, storage and event reminders, among many others. Companies and institutions that have already paid for Feishu will be reimbursed through relevant subsidies, the company said in their announcement without disclosing further details.

“Even if the epidemic is over, companies may still have to undergo a long recovery period and, to some degree, productivity tools can help people tough it out,” said Xie Xin, head of Feishu. “Therefore, we hope to help all sectors of our society resume work by further lowering the threshold for using Feishu.”
