Travel sector in the Philippines has been experiencing consistent growth over the past few years, driven by both international arrivals and domestic travelers.
Additionally, the Philippines is the world’s second-fastest growing internet economy, per a joint report by Google and Temasek.
The growing internet market, coupled with a prosperous tourism industry, seems to bold well for the online travel industry that is set to further boom in the coming years.
Singapore-based RedDoorz took notice of the trend, and is ready to help the Philippines open its doors to the world of travelers.
RedDoorz, an online booking platform for budget hotels, just announced it would expand its business to the Philippines, making an investment of US$ 5 million to grow its lodging properties to over 100 across the country, consisting of 7,000 islands, in the next 12 months.
Currently Reddorz operates in both Singapore and 16 cities in Indonesia. It claims more than 1 million room nights with over 80 per cent occupancy rate from over 500 properties it runs in the two countries.
Amit Saberwal, Founder and CEO of RedDoorz said they have been closely surveying the Filipino market. “Our expansion into the Philippines came as a natural progression for RedDoorz, where like our first market in Indonesia showed many similarities and thus the potential for a vibrant domestic travel and hospitality industry,” he said.
Coinciding with the launch in the Philippines, RedDoorz will also launch a new type of lodging option named RedDoorz Premium. The new service includes properties designed for the budget business travelers, usually located close to business districts and have more amenities catering to business trips.
“The aim of this new category is to target the business traveler who looks for certain amenities like good Wifi connection, location closer to business district and other amenities. We see this as a strong category as we expand into other Southeast Asian cities where there is an influx of business traveler,” Chief Operating Officer Rishabh Singhi said.
