“The intellectual property, in other words, patent, is the edge in the market for both Chinese companies and their counterparts in Belt-and-Road countries. The one who controls intellectual property will have the chance to win,” said LI Zhu at Belt and Road Innovation Conference on Friday.
“Xiaomi is an excellent example of Chinese companies which have established their presence overseas, as Xiaomi is among the best-selling brands in several Belt-and-Road countries. But the smartphone manufacturer previously struggled to expand in India, as Swedish company Ericsson alleges that Xiaomi has been violating its patents.”
LI Zhu, the founder of angel investment firm InnoAngel Fund, has previously invested in the world’s largest O2O platform Meituan-Dianping and smart camera drone maker PowerVision.
