China’s largest delivery platform Meituan-Dianping announced today that Wang Huiwen, co-founder and senior vice president, will step down from his role in December as part of the company’s latest management reshuffle, local media LatePost reported.
Wang will remain on the board of Meituan after his retirement, and will serve as the permanent honorary advisor of the company, Meituan’s founder and CEO Wang Xing said in an internal letter. Wang will also be appointed as a guest lecturer of the company’s vocational education project “Meituan University,” to contribute to the firm’s strategic development and talent cultivation.
In an internal memo, Wang wrote he had been having trouble balancing work with family, health, and personal interests. He will dedicate more of his time to enjoy “a different lifestyle” after stepping down.
As a co-founder of Meituan, Wang has served as the senior vice president since 2010. He is currently in charge of the Meituan user business, managing the flagship Meituan app, as well as the location-based service (LBS) business unit, which includes ride-hailing, transportation, and unmanned delivery.
Meituan also announced several other leadership changes in the internal letter. Vice presidents Guo Qing and Li Shubin will be included in the company’s core decision-making team, said the firm without providing major details.
Guo is currently the general manager of Meituan’s hotel booking business and Meituan’s ticket booking and travel division, while Li joined the firm in December 2019 to head the company’s app, according to 36Kr.
36Kr is KrASIA’s parent company.
