Go-Viet, Gojek’s Vietnamese subsidiary, claims it’s leading Vietnam’s online food delivery market in terms of the number of merchants and menu items.
This comes as Go-Viet celebrates one year of operation in Vietnam. According to the announcement—GoFood, which launched in Ho Chi Minh City in November 2018 and Hanoi in March this year—now has 70,000 merchants on its platform and offers 1 million menu items with a monthly growth of 25%-to-35% in the number of orders.
Alongside the fast growth of the ride-hailing market, Vietnam is witnessing a boom in the online food delivery market, estimated to be worth USD 33 million in 2018, as there’s a strong demand arising from mobile-first urban consumers.
There are currently four unicorns battling it out in Vietnam’s food-delivery market. Besides GoFood and GrabFood, there are also Now.vn (owned by SEA) and Beamin (owned by South Korea’s unicorn Woowa Brothers).
Though there are no concrete market share figures available, both GrabFood and Now.vn cover more areas in Vietnam than GoFood, with delivery services in 15 and 16 cities respectively.
