Indonesian catering startup Berrykitchen acquired by Ismaya’s Yummy Corp

Indonesian catering business Yummy Corp, an affiliate of one of the country’s largest F&B and entertainment groups Ismaya, announced that it has acquired  Berrykitchen for an undisclosed amount.

According to a local media Detik, the entire Berrykitchen team will join one of Yummy Corp’s business units, an online catering operator called Yummybox. The Berrykitchen mobile app has also merged into the Yummybox’ app which is already available on Android and IOS platforms.

Founded in 2012, Berrykitchen was among the first online catering platform in Indonesia that delivered lunch boxes, mostly to office workers in Greater Jakarta. In 2015, Berrykitchen raised a Series A funding round led by Sovereign’s Capital. It claimed to serve “hundreds of thousands of customers.”

Yummybox was established in early 2017. It’s much later to the game, but its affiliation with Ismaya Group, a giant F&B company with 70 establishments operating across Indonesia, Singapore, Shanghai, and Dubai, gives it a leg up.

With this acquisition, Yummybox aims to make service improvements to provide a better experience for customers, the firm told Detik. As Berrykitchen is considered to have the same target market and vision as Yummybox, the merger expected to make Yummybox the largest catering service provider in Indonesia.
