Sogou hints at going public in China, but offers no timetable

China’s second-largest search engine Sogou has confirmed with KrAsia on Tuesday in a written statement that the company welcomes the opportunity to diversify its investor base and complement its listing on the New York Stock Exchange.

The spokesperson who communicated with KrAsia explained that Sogou’s users are primarily based in China and have a strong connection to its key products—a search engine and mobile keyboard. The spokesperson added that there is no timetable for Sogou to pursue a domestic listing.

This year, Sogou has been named by Fast Company as one of the top ten most innovative companies in China for producing portable AI translation devices, in addition to operating its core search engine business.
