VMTV #10: William Gozali—Accelerating Indonesia’s financial inclusion

KrASIA’s Venture Matters TV is excited to host William Gozali, chief investment officer at BRI Ventures, on October 22, 7 pm SGT!

BRI Ventures is a CVC with USD 250 million of funds investing in Southeast Asia’s best companies with an Indonesian angle and is backed by Bank BRI, Indonesia’s oldest bank (125 years) with a reach that covers even the most remote areas in the country.

Prior to joining BRI Ventures, William led the investment division of MDI Ventures, the corporate venture capital initiative of Telkom Indonesia with USD 100 million in funds, focusing on growth-stage companies globally. Working together with Indonesia’s largest telco and the largest bank gave him deep knowledge and understanding of how to crack the Indonesian market.

Being a part of Indonesia’s tech startup scene since its early days, William has been a facilitator of digital transformation and collaboration between portfolio companies and corporations. He has mentored more than 50 companies, invested in 27 companies across 10 countries within Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and the US—with 8 exits in 2020.

Tune in to this conversation if you want to hear about:

  1. What has shaped Indonesia’s digital landscape and today’s deep local market understanding
  2. BRI Venture’s take on Indonesia’s financial inclusion serving the unbanked population in rural communities as well as cultivating regional partnerships
  3. Value over valuation—the VC’s perspective on finding a balance between creating social impact vs building a profitable business

RSVP here and send in your questions to William Gozali!

Supported by the network and reach of its holding company as well as a team of seasoned entrepreneurs and experts, BRI Ventures is committed to accelerating Indonesia’s financial inclusion. It is uniquely positioned in the market to help entrepreneurs get a strong local presence of Indonesia—with a strong digital ecosystem-enablement angle.

See you all there and don’t be shy—ask a question!
